Anti-Aging Base Supplements:
1. Collagen Type 1, 3 & 4
Human skin is a Connective tissue.
By definition, A connective tissues tissue that connects, supports, binds or separates other tissues or organs.
Collagen is the “cement” that holds the skin cells together. Collagen is probably one of the most important anti-aging supplements,
Why is it so effective to a point that plastic surgeons inject it directly to the skin to instantly reverse wrinkles?
Because the number one cause of wrinkles is low collagen. The moment you supplement with collagen, you may not believe it is your own skin in as little as 2 weeks.
Vitamin A increases collagen levels in the body. Collagen is the main structural protein in connective tissue.
Applying vitamin A to the skin in form of Retinol can increase collagen synthesis while preventing collagen degradation.
Phyto means – Plant
Ceramides are Lipid molecules that are found in high concentrations within cell membranes. In the top layer of the skin, ceramides hold skin cells together, forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and retains moisture.
Moisturized skin is not the same as Oily Skin – Please note that. When the skin is moisturized, it looks younger, wrinkle-free and attractive.
Ceramides can also be applied to the skin resulting in rapid skin hydration, collagen repair, and a young looking skin. You should try this!
4. Alpha Lipoic Acids (ALA)
Not to be confused with Alpha-Linolenic Acids (Omega-3), another ALA
Pay attention here because we’ll discuss the popular Glutathione (mother of all anti-oxidants) and N-Acetylcysteine.
Ready? Here we go
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a vitamin-like antioxidant, sometimes referred to as the “universal antioxidant” because it is soluble in both fat and water. (1).
Presence of ALA in the body increases the transportation of Glutathione inside cells.
Research has found that the oldest people in the world, all have very high levels of glutathione. Taking glutathione supplement alone may not be beneficial without enough ALA.
In fact, even if you take glutathione by mouth, it is broken down into L-Cysteine, a more stable molecule ready for use in the body. ALA Amplifies the availability of glutathione in the cells.
Another supplement called N-Acetylcysteine is the dominant precursor for glutathione in the body.
Taking N-Acetylcysteine is a smarter, cheaper and a better way to increase glutathione levels in the body that to take glutathione as a supplement. Think about it this way, even if you take glutathione by mouth, for it to be transferred into the cell, it has to be broken down into L-Cysteine.
Alpha-lipoic acid can reduce oxidized glutathione, thereby enhancing and preserving glutathione’s actions in a cell.
There is a supplement that combines Glutathione, Milk Thistle, and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Out customers who have taken this supplement swears by it that they looked even 10 years younger in just two weeks.
Pro Tip: Alpha Lipoic Acid is approved in Germany for the treatment of a diabetes complication called Diabetic Neuropathy. It is a fantastic supplement (2).
4. TheAnti-Oxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Glutathione & Selenium)
These are the hallmark of anti-aging. They are so potent that people will doubt your age with continued use. But you MUST use the right combination … and I have put together a perfect anti-aging regimen you can download here.
Please note these are not a one of pill swallow and you get lifetime results. Supplements are like foods, just concentrated in higher amounts. Continued use, just like foods gives longer lasting results.
Scientists call Glutathione the “Mother of all anti-oxidants” for a reason. It is the most powerful anti-oxidant in the human body. It is so powerful that used with Vitamin-C, Alpha lipoic acid, and Collagen peptides, it is possible to reverse most visible aging signs.
Vitamin-C, just like Vitamin-E and Glutathione is a potent anti-oxidant that prevents cells from being damaged by free radicals and sun Ultra Violet rays.
A minor exposure (30 minutes) to the damaging sun rays can decrease vitamin-C levels on the skin by 30%
The same 30 minutes of exposure to sun damaging rays in a city pollution environment can decrease vitamin-c levels in the skin by 55% 🙁
Think about walking in Nairobi for 2 hours? What could it do to your skin if you do not have a sunscreen?
Vitamin-C also increases absorption of Reduced Glutathione in the stomach, the reason why a prudent nutritionist would tell you that they should be taken together.
The first and probably one of the most important anti-aging supplement we talked about was Collagen. Here is what you need to know… the synthesis (making) of collagen in the body is dependent on the availability of vitamin-C. Lower levels of Vitamin-C means lower levels of collagen(3)
Even if you know nothing about biochemistry or sciences, the image above can tell you something by just looking at it. Vitamin-C, Vitamin-E & Glutathione takes out free radicals (cell-damaging chemicals) and helps in collagen formation.
The arrows pointing upwards are indicating free radicals taken out and the ones facing downwards shows the skin gains. Note that Glutathione alone does not increase skin collagen formation 🙂
Another reason why it is super important to take Reduced Glutathione with Vitamin-C
