Best Natural Hair Food Products for Black Hair Available in Kenya

With all the chemicals and lack of proper natural hair care, it is not unusual to find your hair thinning, coming out and looking pale.

While some people dismiss hair thickness, fullness and hair length as genetic – and partially true – it has a lot to do with how you feed your hair and the kind of products you use.

Hair is part of your skin. A healthy disease free that is well nourished is a key factor to having long natural thick black hair.

Kenya we are so blessed because some of the best hair foods are available in Kenya naturally and can be made at home or bought at a very cheap price.

Here is a list of the best Natural Hair Products Found in Kenya.

The first three natural hair products are so important, so popular that if you have never heard of them, I would politely tell you to wake up and learn what you have been missing.

Black Castor Oil.

Sometimes English words make something simple sound so foreign, yet it is something you already know and maybe have in your farm.

Castor tree is a common plant especially in central province in Kenya, known to yield castor beans  - a favorite food for doves.

If you have castor tree in your shamba, it has characteristic dark colored beans and when mature and dry, they can be heard popping when sunny.

The castor seeds are very rich in castor oil, the number one known natural and organic hair food in the world.

How to Make Castor Oil Natural Hair Food from Home?

  • Gather castor beans and dry them completely under the sun. It is not recommended using green castor seeds.
  • Crush the beans using a crusher of your choice. You will need about a kilo of castor beans to get a good enough amount of castor oil.
  • Add water into the crushed paste and stir well
  • Boil the paste slowly and continue stirring as needed. Avoid heating too rapidly
  • The castor oil will come on at the top and water will be left at the bottom.
  • Allow the mixture to cool off so that you can harvest your castor oil at the top.

Warning:

Please do not use same utensils you use at home for cooking food. Castor beans when heated can produce Cyanide, one of the most poisonous chemical substance known to man.

Do not ingest/eat freshly brewed castor oil to avoid chances of cyanide poisoning.

Cyanide causes instant death if ingested.

To be on the safe side, I would recommend professionally cold pressed Jamaican Black castor oil

Biotin Supplement:

Biotin is part of Vitamin B family that is known worldwide to enhance rapid growth and regrowth of natural hair, nails and healthy skin.

Biotin can only be bought commercially although there are many foods rich in biotin.

While foods are a great source of biotin, supplementation is necessary to achieve optimum hair and nail growth. The soft skin comes as a bonus.

Shea Butter

Unfortunately, shea butter is not grown in Kenya but that doesn’t mean you cannot use organic shea butter to make your own natural hair food recipe in Kenya.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil comes from jojoba plant only found in Arizona, Southern California and Northwestern parts of Mexico. Any jojoba oil product not from the USA is likely not authentic.

While jojoba oil alone is a potent natural hair food, it is even better and more beneficial when missed with shea butter.

Moroccan Argan Oil

Moroccan argan oil is a rare miracle oil every woman should have. Moroccan oil is not only a natural hair food product but it also treats acne, dandruff, reduces or removes stretch marks.
If you cannot have all these natural oils on this list, I would recommend you get Moroccan argan oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, and Biotin. With those three, your natural hair, your skin, and your nails will never be the same again.
